Who Is Tyler Grady?

(MYFOX NATIONAL) - Tyler Grady was eliminated from the competition Thursday night and will not be moving on to the Top 10 men's group.

Tyler Grady made a lasting impression with judges when he auditioned for season nine of "American Idol" walking in with two broken wrists he suffered from falling out of a tree.

Luckily it wasn't just his physical appearance that was memorable to the judges, but his rendition of Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" that put him through to Hollywood and then the Top 24.

According to the Allentown (Pa.) Morning Call , Grady moved to Nazareth, Pa. with his parents when he was 10. It was there that he found his love for music.

In middle school he formed a band with his two friends Travis Hobbie and Josh Zullo. They called themselves Wailing Waters. Grady played the drums and says at that point he had literally no music experience.

"We were very young and pretty inexperienced, so we just went around and played whatever open mic we could get into, basically," Grady said.

Tom Taylor club manager of Crocodile Club Café where Wailing Waters first played said, "They were ahead of the game since Day 1."

Grady's fashion sense reflects the bands musical genre – 60's and 70's inspired rock.

Starometer.com reports that Grady has only had some formal singing training, but Grady said he's taken a few lessons off and on over the past few years.

The college student was involved in choir during high school. Choral director at Nazareth Area High School Kelly Rocchi told The Morning Call , "He's a very, very good singer. Everything he does on TV is exactly like he was in high school – his arms flailing and the way he moves. It's not something he made up for TV."

This was Grady's third time trying out for "American Idol." His first tryout in Philadelphia two years ago didn't even get him past the initial audition. His second tryout in New York got him past the first round, but ended there.

Grady says he took the past two years to improve by playing more and more shows with Wailing Waters.

A sophomore at Temple University in Philadelphia PopTower.com reports, Grady is studying psychological studies, but has put them on hold while he is in Hollywood.
