MyFOXChattanoogaConstruction Begins on Highway 27

A big construction project started Monday and it won't be finished for more than two years. The three-mile stretch of Highway 27 between the Olgiati Bridge and Signal Mountain Boulevard is being widened. The project is scheduled for completion in October of 2014. Crews will work between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Only one lane in each direction will be open during the construction. Also, the on and off ramps at Manning Street and Whitehall Road are closing for good. If the new layout causes a major traffic issue, Jennifer Flynn with TDOT says they'll try to fix it.
