The city and police department continue trying to deal with the gang problem plaguing Chattanooga. Chief Dodd gave several details about the city's gang problems, but Mayor Ron Littlefield is seeking outside advice. On Tuesday the city began soliciting bids for a community gang problem assessment. After a sharp rise in gang violence this year Mayor Littlefield asked the city council to use $75,000 earmarked for minority business to fund the study. They refused. Now he's asking private businesses to fund the job.
