Tennessee Teens Leaving High School Unprepared

Tennessee's education commissioner told the Chattanooga Rotary Club that most of the state's high school graduates are not ready to move into jobs that are being created. Commissioner Kevin Huffman says the CEO's of many of the state's top companies are worried there are not enough qualified young people to fill open positions. He said most students can not pass a basic skills test to get an interview. Huffman said teachers must be held to higher standards and get continuous training to keep their skills sharpened.
