About 300 people spent Sunday at a local bowling ally playing several
games for a good cause. For the 12th year now the family of Tony O'Rear
held a benefit at Holiday Bowl in his memory. His family says he loved
to bowl. O'Rear died in 1999 after being diagnosed with severe aplastic
anemia, a condition similar to leukemia. O'Rear was a 6th grader at Red Bank Middle School when he died. On Sunday we spoke with his mother, who wants to keep his dream alive.
The money raised goes towards research at the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The event has raised more than $135,000 over the past ten years.
